[The Tibetan abbot’s costume]
This sleeveless outer wool and brocade jacket is part of the costume I saw in storage
at the V&A that belonged to the last abbot of Tengye Ling monastery in Lhasa. The
abbot was involved in a plot to kill the young, 13th Dalai Lama, and so he was sent
to prison, and his monastery was dissolved.
