Diamond Jenness loved to record Inuit songs – like ‘Song 21’ – on an Edison
phonograph like this one. At first they were nervous of the machine, and thought it
was magic, but over time Jenness earned their trust and recorded dance songs and
incantations that will never be sung in the same way again.
